The Play & Rate international song competition
Let’s be honest, you know you’re good. And we think it’s time you got some recognition. That’s where the Play & Rate international song competition comes in. It’s a chance for real talent to earn real rewards.
How does it work?
Any artist from any genre can enter their tune with a small fee of £5 per entry, so you can enter more than one if you like. Why is there an entry fee this time? Well all the entry fee’s will build a prize fund which will get split amongst the top three winning artists. Then from fans to industry bigwigs - vote for the songs they like. And the ones with most votes win some great music stuff and the prize fund. It breaks down like this…
Step 1. Enter your best song into the genre that best suits you. Then do everything you can to get your friends, fans, partners, immediate family, history teachers, probation officers and anybody else who cares to vote for it.
Step 2. See what other people think. Everybody who listens to your song will be able to feed back and give you a score.
Step 3. The finals. The 10 tunes with the highest overall votes, plus five chosen by Overplay and selected fan members, will compete against each other.
Step. 4 We have a winner! Well, a few actually. In the final round, the public vote counts for 20% of the final say, while 80% goes to our panel of industry judges.

Friday 1 Jan. Start submitting your songs.
Monday 18 Jan. All submitted tunes are on display here and on the artist profile areas for the public to start playing and rating.
Monday 1 March. Find out who’s through to the final round.
Monday 5 April. Winners announced.

How are songs rated?
|
|
Songs are judged by the rating system below which is in place on every song submitted into the competition. The ratings of each track has been broken down into key categories where listeners can choose a rating between 1 to 10. Below is an example breakdown in how the rating of each of the categories totals up to give an overall rating of the song.
