"STARK's Lani Ford must be one of the most honest people walking the planet today. Her lyrics are penned with the intimate abandon that is usually reserved for one's diary. With STARK, she transforms these personal reveries into emotionally charged Rock'N'Roll. Alternating between the sneering confidence of Chrissie Hynde and the mournful soul of Patsy Cline, The Curse weaves a tale of loneliness, heartbreaks and one-night-stands like the jukebox Country in a desert highway dive. Somehow Lani has mustered the courage to reveal her innermost self, a rare trait within the egotistical realm of Rock'N'Roll. More power to her."--The Big Takeover
STARK is a New York City rock trio with old school roots and original tunes! STARK has been busy with plans to release the already finished album Race To The Floor after the beginning of 2010. It’s dark comedy and punked out country blues all rolled into one sexy package. STARK makes purgatory fun by sleazing up the NYC rock scene, embracing their bad luck and traumatizing people everywhere they go! STARK blasted onto the NYC scene in 2003 with tunes reminiscent of CBGB's circa 1978. In 2004, the band released its debut CD "The Curse", instantly making fans out of big players in the NYC rock and roll scene and beyond from Genya Ravan to Lenny Kaye. Since then, the line-up has changed a bit, but STARK has still been playing, recording and touring often and released the sophomore album Put It To Your Head in 2008. STARK has a steadily growing support base, indie-level industry interest, raving album and live show reviews, international radio, internet and television play, songs in films, distribution in the U.S. and abroad, and licensing. Self-released CD’s: Self-released CD’s: “Put It To Your Head” (LP), “The Curse” (LP), and “Live at CMJ” (EP). Also, STARK’s song “Slut” is on the compilation disc “The Morgue The Merrier” (Poptown Records). Lani Ford—Lead vocals, bass--Still kicking after a lifetime of taking punches.
