“…With a template of drive, enthusiasm & explosive melody, an ear for the past and an eye on the future, yet perfectly at ease in the here & now…” - Pet Sounds Fanzine,

“…a tap dancing snare builds with intricate guitar phrasing before massive harmonies kick in and the whole thing breaks through the stratosphere…” - Overplay website review of album title track `New Horizons'

“…a veritable variety pack of guitar based experimentation, the band deserves recognition for sounding like themselves & slapping their own wholesome goodness all over the shop…” - The Shiznit Fanzine,

Kontiki are a five piece groove based melodic indie rock band, currently based around the Midlands. Debut album `New Horizons' - released via the independent label Raft Records - has been the subject of some very positive press reviews, & is presently permeating the student radio scene in universities up & down the country.

“…Kontiki have grafted and crafted their ways, which shows the confidence and pro-ness that their music has evolved into. Like a detonation of sound, marking and cutting blast waves, the after shock that engulfs every part of you. This Band are taking the music that’s inside them, experimenting with new boundaries, infusing all, throwing the lot into their Kontiki grinder to make a smooth smooth paste. Much has been said about the likes of Coldplay and the greatest Lp ever, take a listen here, sit back smell that smooth aroma these lot are sending off, like Coldplay have created a hybrid, Kontiki too have played in the mystical garden of sound gene structure, building a combination of should it or shouldn’t it sound waves. We reckon their doing a fine job. New Horizons is a fully fledged LP, that grows and grows from it’s “Cowgirl Heart”, which is tumbling tumble drift weed blowing in a desert, hitting into sharp dressed guitar sounds, overflowing into lazy paced vocals. Dreamy it is, catchy tis too, then bounce into the loud of Russian influenced lyrics feelgood eastern block sounds. “Mr Sun” is noisy punk indie, think about Joy Division dirtying up Coldplay, mmm Mr Sun. Time To Get Away”, is psych modern pop, could relate to some of the 80’s indie keyboard outfits here, pure passion for pop with a manner never going near the chart fodder…”
