Biography

‘Zeppelin sized riffs and even bigger vocals’ - NME

Welcome to the world of Stealing Green. One of the most exciting of a new wave of young British rock acts, merging the best of classic British and American rock with a vital contemporary edge – assimilating the grunge generation with the legendary song writing of the rock heavyweights of yester year.

Stealing Green is made up of Chris, Colin, Jamie, Joel and Jovan.

Brought together by a common love of rock, the band has been together for little over a year. In this time they have toured relentlessly and built a name for themselves the old fashioned way. The bands songs and live prowess has seen them hailed by the likes of the NME (who compared their riffs to Led Zep) and XFM (who have sessioned the band and made them Band of The Week on XFM Uploaded – and attracting over 230,000 listens on the XFM site alone).

Musically Stealing Green run a broad spectrum - George’s unique and powerful whisky soaked growl overlays a driving and inventive backing. The influences and comparisons to rock legends are easy to see. The chunky riffing of Led Zeppelin, Free and Aerosmith are infused with a uniquely modern take. So from the vocal prowess and dirty rock of “Give It All Back”, the Tool inspired syncopated guitar lines of “No Surrender” to the Cult and Audioslave riffing of “Human Blues”, this is a band at their very inception who have got more ideas and songs than many achieve in a lifetime.

Recent recordings have been done at 360 studios with production legend Jon Astley (The Who, Clapton, The Rolling Stones).

Stealing Green has been establishing themselves as a live force to be reckoned with. No exotic visuals or extra elements needed to make a raw rock show – just voice, guitars, bass and drums. In a crowded scene, Stealing Green show that great rock music doesn’t have to be over complicated. It just has to rock – good and hard.

~ Duff Battye, Duff Press (Aerosmith, Gibson Guitars, Stealing Green, Live, Incubus, Pearl Jam)
